In 2016, the New York Attorney General (NY AG) initiated a lawsuit against NLS and its affiliates, exposing extensive fraudulent activities. The court’s investigation revealed:
- Negligence in overseeing Independent Service Organizations (ISOs)
- Systematic fraud and exploitation of the NY City Civil Courts
- Targeted harassment and deceptive practices aimed at personal guarantors
These findings culminated in the dissolution of NLS, dismissal of cases with prejudice, and substantial financial penalties totaling $680 million against NLS and nearly $10 million against Joseph Sussman and his law firm.
Jury Verdict: Upholding Justice

- Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act violations across all defendants
- RICO conspiracy (excluding Cuccinata)
